Hilary Duff explains why she didn’t want to star in How I Met Your Father at first. Created by This Is Us writers Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, How I Met Your Father begins with two different timelines, keeping with the original How I Met Your Mother series structure. In one, set in the year 2050, Kim Cattrall plays Sophie, who shares the unabridged version of how she met the love of her life. And, in another, Duff portrays the younger and more hopelessly romantic version of Sophie. Despite a disappointing run of terrible Tinder dates, and an even more disappointing family history, the younger Sophie still believes that her soulmate is out there somewhere.
How I Met Your Father recently premiered episodes 1 and 2 on Hulu. However, since it is a reboot of the hit sitcom HIMYM, the series has been garnering attention well before its debut. The two comedies exist in the same universe, as confirmed by a few subtle Easter eggs. And, like the original show, How I Met Your Father boasts a charming cast that includes Francia Raisa, Chris Lowell, Suraj Sharma, Tien Tran, and Tom Ainsley.
