Hideo Kojima has plenty of projects in the works at the moment, with Death Stranding 2 and the recently announced OD about to take up the majority of his time over the next year. He and his team seem to be ready for the challenge though, as he recently provided fans with an update on the development of both of his highly-anticipated titles, along with other projects he has in the pipeline.
Kojiam talked about his work via his personal Twitter account, in which he explains that Death Stranding 2 and OD will be developed simultaneously over the course of 2024. He begins by giving us a little bit of information where Death Stranding 2 is at the minute, explaining that the game "still has some ADR left" and that the Japanese voice overs will be recorded soon.
As for what this means regarding the release date, it sounds as though Death Stranding 2 is pretty far along in development, though not that close to the finish line. Kojima's overall tone suggests it's almost ready, though a recent release date leak from an artist's online portfolio suggested we'll have to wait until 2025. Late 2024 feels like it could be a possibility now, though we're more than likely better off expecting a 2025 launch instead.
Kojima then moves onto OD, and is a lot more mysterious and brief about this one, just like the game's announcement trailer. After explaining that he'd like to limit his business trips this year, Kojima explains that he still has "to shoot for OD", suggesting that he'll either be in the game itself or on set when shooting takes place. Either way, that's the only nugget of info Kojima gives us on OD, with a potential release date looking well off at the moment.
