Konami has explained why the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake, which was revealed as one of the big surprises of the PlayStation Showcase, has a seemingly random triangle in its name.
Although most gamers seem to be pretty disappointed by the most recent PlayStation Showcase thanks to the low number of exclusives and the disappointing reveal of Project Q, undoubtedly one of the best moments of it was when the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake was finally revealed after years of being one of the worst-kept secrets in the industry.

The reveal trailer did manage to raise a few eyebrows, however, particularly at the remake's incredibly strange name. For some reason, instead of just calling it the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Remake, Konami has gone with Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, which is stylised with a green triangle instead of using the word delta.
It's easily one of the weirdest names for a game in some time (and I say that as someone who doesn't blink at Kingdom Hearts' naming conventions), but it turns out that there's a somewhat reasonable explanation for the use of the symbol. As reported by IGN, the official Metal Gear Twitter account shared an image of the delta symbol and explained that it's being used because of how the word delta fits in with a remake.
The account said, "The Delta symbol (Δ) was chosen because its meaning fits the concept of the remake project. Delta means "change" or "difference" without changing structure". It's a little strange still, but that should correct the people thinking that it was trying to represent PlayStation's triangle button, which wouldn't make sense considering the
