Food from Cooking has always been a must-have for any Raider, PvPer or Mythic+ Player, and that is no different in The War Within. Like previous expansions, Players can purchase their Food and Feast items from the Auction House, however, Players skilled in Khaz Algar Cooking have the opportunity to create Hearty items that persist through death!
Cooking in The War Within
The biggest benefit of Hearty food and feast items is that they persist through death. This allows you to rely on fewer items during Raids and Dungeons. However, these items cannot be traded among groupmates because they are Warbound. While this can be inconvenient, Warbound means that you only need one skilled Chef on your account, and then all of your alts can benefit from Hearty items.
Once a Chef reaches Skill 25/100 in Khaz Algar Cooking, they will unlock the recipe to create Hearty Food. Hearty Food isn't technically an item on its own; each Hearty recipe is a modified version of a pre-existing food item. Chefs will need to combine five of a single food type to receive a Hearty version of it in return. This Hearty version has the same stats as before, but will now grant a Well Fed buff that persists through death. This means that Hearty food is more expensive, since you will be trading in five times the «normal» items for a singular Hearty version.
Currently Hearty Food's tooltip states that it unlocks at Cooking Skill 100/100. This is incorrect. You will automatically unlock this recipe once you reach Skill 25/100.
For example, a Chef can combine five Deepfin Patty into one Hearty Deepfin Patty:
Similar to Food, Chefs will learn to create Hearty Feast at Skill 75/100 in Khaz Algar Cooking. For feasts, Players will need to combine 10 of the «normal» feasts to produce one Hearty version. This may seem extreme, but remember — feasts are for your entire group! This means that only one player out of the group needs to provide a Hearty feast for
