Of all the members of the Justice Society, the hero Hawkgirl might just be their most powerful asset. In a preview for DC: Mech #1, the high-flying warrior proves that her unique combination of skills and weaponry make her the team's best defense.
As the forerunners for the modern superhero team in the DC Universe, the Justice Society of America had some incredibly powerful members in their heyday. With heroes like the magic-based Green Lantern Alan Scott or the Golden Age Flash Jay Garrick, the JSA kept the world safe from the threats of the early 20th century. Two notable members were Hawkman and Hawkwoman (also known as Hawkgirl). Despite their incredibly complex history with reincarnation, one thing that's always remained true about both heroes is their devotion to one another and their impressive fighting skills.

Unfortunately, both of those traits have come up at the worst possible moment for the Justice Society. A preview forDC: Mech #1 by Kenny Porter and Baldemar Rivas shows the superhero team celebrating their victory in the second World War. However, the party is short-lived as a calamity strikes right in the middle of Metropolis. A parademon the size of a building attacks, sending the Justice Society of America into battle-mode. Despite the valiant effort from the heroes Doctor Fate, Johnny Thunder and the Sandman, they perish from the overwhelming might of the Apokoliptian invader. Even Hawkman falls against the gigantic foe, saving his beloved Shiera before being vaporized. Hawkgirl leads a new charge with the remaining Society members.
