The Marvel Cinematic Universe needs to cast its Wolverine and Halo star Pablo Schreiber really wants to play the famous mutant. Hugh Jackman is so far the only actor to play Wolverine on the big screen, as he played him for nearly 20 years in Fox's X-Men franchise. Jackman's time in the role came to an end in 2017's Logan, which proved to be perfect timing with Disney beginning the process of acquiring Fox shortly thereafter. This reverted the X-Men movie rights to Marvel Studios in 2019, setting up an MCU reboot of these characters, Wolverine included.
Marvel Studios hasn't officially confirmed what their plans look like for their X-Men franchise. Ryan Reynolds is jumping to the MCU for Deadpool 3 and Patrick Stewart is surprisingly returning as a version of Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While this has left some hope alive that Hugh Jackman could return as Wolverine for an MCU appearance, it is still believed that Marvel Studios will recast the role. In doing so, the MCU will have a younger actor who can play Wolverine for the next decade or so.
