A reader is frustrated with the lack of updates for Halo Infinite and insists that 343 Industries should never be allowed to make another game.
Xbox had a good year last year, probably their first good year since the Xbox 360 era. Game Pass grabbed people’s attention and it feels like, in my friend group at least, as if it became a major talking point and reason to own an Xbox. By the end of the end year Sony had nothing new to release and yet Microsoft had the excellent Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite, both of which reviewed well.
Halo Infinite was a welcome relief because developer 343 Industries have been a bit of a disaster ever since they took over the franchise and the game being delayed by a year, after that laughable Craig the Brute preview, was not a good sign. But to many people’s surprise it managed to get out on time though, and it was actually really good.
The campaign was a bit weird, and it was obvious it must’ve been edited down and changed a lot from what was originally planned, but it was okay. The important thing is that the multiplayer was great, really good and making it free-to-play was a genius idea. For the time I would say it was probably my favourite game of last year but there was a problem in that there was not much content, so it did depend on what they did with it post-launch. And now we know exactly what they’ve done: nothing.
I’m not even going to mention Forge and campaign co-op, which weren’t there at launch and we still have no idea about, but simply the fact that almost nothing of any importance has been added to the multiplayer since it first came out.
