Thanks to Rockstar Games Social Club, PS4 and Xbox One players can begin transferring their Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online save progress in preparation for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions. Rockstar Games announced the current-gen upgrades nearly two years ago, with their original release windows set for late 2021.
The enhanced editions of GTA 5 and GTA Online notably boast several graphical and performance improvements, allowing players to experience the open-world epic in up to 4K resolution, with higher frame rates, ray tracing, better quality textures, and increased draw distances. Rockstar equipped GTA Online with a few unique additions as well, chief among them being Hao's Special Works — an auto shop where users will boost five existing cars and five new vehicles with elite performance driving upgrades. Apparently, these performance enhancements will take full advantage of the PS5's and Xbox Series X/S' horsepower. Since both GTA experiences hit the newest consoles in less than two weeks, Rockstar has opened the floodgates in terms of fresh details.

On top of detailing the performance modes for GTA 5 and GTA Online, a Rockstar Newswire post also informed PS4 and Xbox One owners of how they can begin transferring save progress with "one-time migration." Starting today, players have the ability to upload their saves to Rockstar Games Social Club by booting up the last-gen version, hitting the Pause menu's 'Game' tab, then selecting 'Upload Save Game.'
