The launch of the next gen versions of GTA 5 seems to be going relatively smoothly, except for one particular group of fans.
The next gen versions of Grand Theft Auto 5 are out today but you’d hardly know it given that Rockstar Games still hasn’t gone into any detail about the differences or even done so much as release a launch trailer. They also didn’t send out review copies to anyone until the day before.
The simple reason for the former is that there are hardly any differences: this is very much a straight remaster, rather than more ambitious updates that the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions were.
Beyond that though they don’t seem to be hiding anything, so it’s not a situation like the GTA 3 trilogy remasters which were full of bugs. Although in certain situations there is a problem with migrating your GTA Online progress to the new editions.

The problem that’s occurring is with people who already migrated their GTA Online accounts from console to PC and who are now not able to move it onto the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.
That’s a relatively small subset of players but Rockstar has acknowledged the problem and has promised to try and fix it as soon as possible.
The issue points to the fact that while not much might have changed on the outside, this is now a brand new version of GTA Online. It hasn’t seen a complete overhaul like this in seven years and so even the PC version needed a refresh if it’s to continue receiving updates
