Grand Theft Auto Online players who have previously transferred their profile from PS4 or Xbox One to PC will not be able to migrate it from last-gen to new-gen consoles at launch.
Ahead of the release of Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on March 15, Rockstar published a guide to migrating story mode progress and online profiles from last-gen consoles.
PS4 and Xbox One players can transfer both their GTA story mode progress and their current GTA Online characters and progression to PS5 or Xbox Series X/S, with a one-time migration for each.
For GTA Online, the migration includes character progress, GTA$, stats, vehicles, properties, weapons, clothing and player-created jobs. Once the transfer is complete, the migrated profile will no longer be available on PS4 or Xbox One.
However, it has now emerged that players who previously imported a GTA Online profile from PS4 or Xbox One to PC will not be able to migrate their console character from last-gen systems to PS5 or Xbox Series X/S when the new versions are released on Tuesday.
Rockstar said today that it’s aware of the issue and is working on a fix, although it’s unclear how long this will take.
“We’re currently working to resolve the issue with GTA Online profile migration for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S where those migrating from PS4 or Xbox One are currently blocked due to previously migrating those accounts to PC, and will update everyone once this is working as intended,” it said.
