Crate Entertainment isn't about to let Diablo IV, Path of Exile 2, Titan Quest II, or Last Epoch steal all the genre's limelight, and they've just announced Grim Dawn: Fangs of Asterkarn to prove it.
This new expansion will be released next year on PC across various stores such as Steam, GOG, and the Humble Store. It will require ownership of the base game as well as the two previous expansions, 2017's Ashes of Malmouth and 2019's Forgotten Gods. Crate Entertainment hasn't disclosed the pricing yet but has said it will be comparable to the aforementioned expansions.
While Grim Dawn: Fangs of Asterkarn won't increase the level cap or the Devotion cap, it will add a whole new region (the titular Asterkarn) and the game's 10th mastery: Berserkers.
Berserkers are the brutal unflinching defenders of Asterkarn that have embraced the beast god Mogdrogen’s gifts to shapeshift into ferocious beastlike forms. They harness the bitter unforgiving winds of Asterkarn to infuse their weapons and shatter their foes. When they are not assuming their wereforms, Berserkers bring down their prey in savage dual weapon combat, but any weapon can prove deadly in their capable hands, or talons.
With the addition of Berserkers, the total number of mastery combinations will increase to 45. But that's just the tip of the iceberg, as Grim Dawn: Fangs of Asterkarn also adds an Ascendant Game Mode that ups the challenge level throughout the entire game world, thirty additional waves in the Crucible (provided you own that DLC), a potion customization feature that lets players alter potions to benefit their specific playstyles, an affix transmutation feature that allows rerolling of the stats on rare and magic items, new regions and boss arenas in the
