Gremlins Prequel Series Reveals New Characters In First Look Photos

Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai recently released brand-new images that finally reveal the prequel show’s main characters. The original 1984 Gremlins movie stars Zach Galligan as the main character Billy Peltzer.

Peltzer goes on to receive a little, furry creature named Gizmo the Mogwai (voiced by Howie Mandel) for Christmas — quite the Christmas miracle, indeed. Yet, Peltzer almost spoils it when he fails to obey the three rules of care. As a result of Peltzer's defiance, a dangerous army of Gremlins begins to assemble in order to wreak havoc and destruction in his small town. Following its 1984 release, Gremlins was an outstanding success amongst critics and audiences, with strong commercial appeal as well. This promising beginning led to the 1990 sequel Gremlins 2: The New Batch, while Gremlins 3 has been stuck in development for years now. However, it was announced back in 2019 that the Gremlins franchise would officially be expanding with its very own animated prequel on HBO Max, Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai. 1920s Shanghai serves as the backdrop for the series, as it follows 10-year-old Sam Wing.

Gremlins Reboot: What We Know So Far

Throughout the show, fans get to watch the transition of him slowly becoming the notorious shop owner Mr. Wing from the 1984 film. He also gets acquainted with and befriends the young Mogwai named Gizmo. The highly-anticipatedGremlins prequel series voice cast has officially been confirmed and features Izaac Wang, Ming-Na Wen, BD Wong, James Hong, Matthew Rhys, A.J. Locascio, and Gabrielle Green. Now, HBO Max has shared four new images of the impressive voice cast and their respective characters.
