This older, solitary version of Alan no longer requires a ring to channel his abilities as he has incorporated his lantern Starheart into his armor, the constant contact giving the Emerald Knight more power than ever before.
Long before Hal Jordan became an officer of the Green Lantern Corps, Alan Scott discovered a lantern in the wreckage of a train crash full of potent, magical energies called the Green Flame. Scott used these near-unlimited power to become the Green Lantern, a masked hero and later member of the Justice Society of America. Like Hal and Earth’s other Green Lanterns, Alan needed to recharge his ring daily to continue using its power and it had a weakness to wood. Thanks to Starheart’s powers, Alan Scott continues to protect the people of Earth in DC's mainstream reality, mentoring future incarnations of the JSA, and maintaining good relationships with his children Jennifer-Lynn and Todd, the heroes Jade and Obsidian.
