While Star-Lord might have used the story of Footloose to begin winning over Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy, Drax the Destroyer had a very different takes on the movie's premise over in the comics. The moment came when Drax was forced to team up with Scott Lang's Ant-Man in a Florida-based adventure.
Drax the Destroyer has come a long way since his earliest comic appearances. His original purpose was only to kill Thanos. In comics today, while Drax still wants to slay the Mad Titan, he also has character traits that give him a bit more agency. Keith Giffen and Mitch Breitweiser's Drax the Destroyertraded some of the Guardian's original brute strength for a more intelligent personality. This transformation brought back several memories of Drax's family and how his soul became a cosmic weapon, turning him into a stoic warrior rather than the Hulk-like brute fans had previously grown to expect.

In 2015's Guardians Team-Up #7, Paul Scheer, Nick Giovannetti, and Shawn Crystal bring Drax to Miami, where he teams up with Scott Lang's Ant-Man. They combine forces against the «Kingpin» of Miami Beach, who calls himself the Mambo King. During an infiltration inside the Mambo King's club, Drax comments: «Look at these people wasting their time.» When Ant-Man asks what he means, Drax replies by saying, «Dancing is useless. It's movement without action. If I found a planet where dancing was outlawed, I would live there.» Scott responds by stating, «Remind me to show you Footloose. I think you'd like it.»
