Another sequel to Wii Sports, called Nintendo Switch Sports, was recently announced, but it will not include all of the games that were featured in previous iterations. The new game was revealed during the February 2022 Nintendo Direct, where some of its new and returning features were shown off. Nintendo Switch Sports will launch with six games to play, with a seventh expected through a free update coming in the Fall. Out of all the games included in Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort, there are 11 missing from Nintendo Switch Sports.
Wii Sports is one of the most popular games ever made, partly by virtue of it being a pack-in title with the console in North America. It was essentially a tech demo, letting people get familiar with the Wii Remote and its motion controls. It also provided an opportunity for players to use the brand new Mii they created. The simple game mechanics made Wii Sports a massive hit as a party title, which eventually lead to a more expansive sequel, Wii Sports Resort. Both are in the top three of highest selling Wii games of all time, next to Mario Kart Wii. The original Wii Sports would later be remastered in high definition for the Wii U as Wii Sports Club.

Nintendo Switch Sports is reviving Wii Sports classics like Bowling, Tennis, and eventually Golf, which is coming in the planned Fall update. It's also bringing back Wii Sports Resort's Swordplay game as Chambara, a term that is usually used in the context of what is known as samurai cinema in English.
