The multiplayer wrestling battle royale Rumbleverse is launching quite soon. Iron Galaxy announced today that Rumbleverse will launch on August 11 for PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and PC via Epic.
The free-to-play brawler goes live on the 11th, and a week later the first season of Rumbleverse will kick off. According to Iron Galaxy’s blog, this will include a Battle Pass with cosmetics to earn along a special path.
Rumbleverse is a 40-player battle royale-style game. But rather than guns and shooting, Rumbleverse is about good ol’ fashioned wrestling. Characters can pick up and use various moves like strikes, kicks, uppercuts, and giant slams to knock out opponents.
Announced in December during The Game Awards 2021, Rumbleverse was set to launch in February. Iron Galaxy delayed the launch though, and has been running tests and early playtimes. Now, it seems like the fighter’s ready to head into the ring.
It’s been hard to miss Rumbleverse, as it’s been making the rounds in the fighting game community social sphere with each new playtest. And I’ll admit, the concept has me intrigued. Plenty of battle royale games hone in on accuracy and shooting ability, but very few have sated the brawling, fighting, wrasslin’ urge.
There have been several battle royales that have gone into and out of the spotlight over the years, but this one at least seems worth a test drive. At the low, low price of free, why not?
Rumbleverse slams onto PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC via the Epic Games Store on August 11.
