With an October release date looming, Gotham Knights has been slowly unveiling more and more information to fans, and a lot of the marketing focus for the game has been recently focused on its characters. At San Diego Comic-Con, for example, Gotham Knights showed off new Batgirl gameplay, featuring the fan-favorite character taking down groups of enemies and gliding through the streets of Gotham. Now, alongside reveals for the playable characters in Gotham Knights, the game's background and story are also being given some attention with the announcement of a prequel comic.
Batman: Gotham Knights — Gilded City will release alongside the game in October 2022. It will have six issues, releasing monthly, that tell fans the story leading up to the events of Gotham Knights. While some details are already known about the game's premise, including the death of Batman, Gilded City will go into further detail around the events leading up to the Caped Crusader dying, along with the threat that Gotham will face in his absence.
Gotham Knights Has Weird Co-Op Feature
Batman's last case before his death will revolve around an investigation into a virus being unleashed on the citizens of Gotham. It isn't currently known who is behind this virus or even what it is called, but these details will likely be revealed either in Gotham Knights or its prequel comic. As well as showing Batman's story, Gilded City will have a parallel storyline set in the 1880s. This historical narrative will revolve around a vigilante named Runaway, who is also investigating the virus.
