Google is reportedly bringing the ability to delete the last 15 minutes of search history, which has been available on its search app for iOS since July 2021, to the Android version of the app.
The Verge reports that Google is rolling out this feature to Android users now and that a spokesperson said it ought "to be available to everyone using the app in the next few weeks."
It's not clear what delayed this feature's expansion to Android—or why Google decided to introduce this capability via its search app for iOS rather than its own mobile platform.
The feature's appeal is more readily apparent. Aside from saving people the embarrassment of having weird search queries in their history, this could also be seen as a safety feature, because it can help people seek help with something without leaving a trail someone else could follow.
Google told The Verge that it's "continuing to explore ways to bring this helpful feature to other surfaces." The company didn't immediately respond to a request for additional information.
