Making online payments is one of the easiest things to do, but only if you know how. Several UPI (Unified Payments Interface) apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm , among others are being used for the same. With the help of these apps making payments has become easier, simpler, and quick and that too by following a few simple steps. All that you need to do is either scan the QR code or enter the mobile number of the receiver and then enter the amount, UPI pin and you are done. Now in order to provide additional convenience to users and enhance the scope of digital payments, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), recently has allowed linking Rupay Credit cards to the UPI platform.
The linking of Rupay Credit Cards to the UPI platform means that now the user will be able to use their Rupay Credit Cards to make UPI payments. The announcement was made by the RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das during the RBI Policy Meet held earlier in June. "To begin with, the Rupay credit cards will be linked to the UPI platform. It can be noted here that though the Rupay Credit Card support has been announced by RBI, it now depends on the UPI payment apps to add the support. According to a report by gadgetsnow.com, currently most of the UPI payment making applications allow users to link their Mastercards and Visa Cards with the app, however, as of now you cannot use the credit card to transfer money or make payments at local stores. You can only use the credit card to make bills and utility payments like doing recharges, paying electricity bills, among others.
