Google mentioned in a blog post while announcing the new look for Google News, “Today we're announcing a number of ways we're working to help people around the world find a broad array of authoritative news, through global support to news organizations and product innovation.” Google’s algorithms use machine learning to analyze hundreds of different factors to identify and organize the stories being covered around the world.
Google says that to help people dive deeper into important stories and more easily find local news from around the world, Google has launched a redesigned, more customizable Google News experience for desktop users. It is based on the feedback from the readers.
The redesigned Google News will now bring Top stories, Local news, and personalized picks for you to the top of the page on your Desktop. Google has moved the local news section to the top of the page to make it easier to locate. This also added a filter button to add multiple locations to your local news section, so that you never miss the important news and updates about the cities and towns you care about.
