With the release of God of War Ragnarok, we now have eight games that make up the franchise. In typical God of War fashion, most of them start things off with an epic boss fight to get the blood pumping, giving each game in the series a particularly memorable opening few hours as a result. Fans over on the God of War subreddit have been discussing their favorites, and the answers are actually pretty varied.
One of the more popular answers is Baldur from the God of War reboot, a fight which surprised pretty much anyone going into the game for the first time. Despite not having the scale of the earlier God of War boss fights, Baldur managed to make himself an imposing villain by having one hell of a tussle with Kratos that literally split the Earth underneath them. Kieftan highlights the "story-telling" aspect of the fight, while TerraAdAstra enjoyed Baldur's little ruse before he sent Kratos flying through the roof of his house.

Of course, there's plenty of love for the original trilogy too, with God of War 3's Poseidon boss fight another popular pick. Kicking things off with an all-out assault on Olympus and taking down Poseidon within the first hour of the game really gave you the perfect sense of scale that God of War 3 was going for. Sir_Gwan says the moment was a "a brilliant way to showcase the glory of a God" while a lot of other fans also enjoyed the overall spectacle despite the actual fight being a little simple.
