While God of War fans have been patiently waiting on news regarding the upcoming Ragnarok sequel, one artistic player has spent their time creating an interesting portfolio. For any God of War fans wondering what Kratos’ son could look like once he grows up, they can look to this artwork as a potential outcome.
While previous concept art from Santa Monica has revealed that Kratos once wielded two axes in combat, among other interesting changes, it is worth noting that this artwork is entirely fan-made. Not only could Atreus look nothing like this when he grows up, but it is entirely possible that fans never even see an adult version of Atreus in the God of War games. As such, players should not expect to see anything like this in a future game — even if the design is incredibly cool and well thought out.
God of War's Odin Needs to Be More Like Atreus than Zeus
This God of War fan art comes courtesy of Rodrigo Idalino, and the main piece showcases an older Atreus with a short beard, mohawk, and his signature bow and arrow. An intricate quiver rests on Atreus’ back, while his armor looks like a more protective version of what young Atreus wears in the 2018 game. Tattoos cover the characters’ arms to add a bit of detail, though the coolest detail is the character’s eyes and scar.
Boasting an injury over the eye that mimics Kratos’ red war paint, the scar is a good reminder of Atreus’ ties to the Ghost of Sparta. Seeing both this scar and the character's eyes light up a bright green plays off Atreus’ true identity of Loki in a brilliant way as well.
