Gmail may not be the same for you soon! That's because when you open your Gmail account after February 8, you will see a huge difference in how your Gmail inbox looks. Google had recently announced that it will bring a huge change in the Gmail layout. The new-look is meant for making it easy to move between critical applications like Gmail, Google Chat, and Google Meet in one unified location. This new layout look of Gmail is termed as an ‘integrated view’. By February 8, you will be able to start testing this new feature. Google says while highlighting the importance of this new integrated view that, "this will help reduce the need to switch between various applications, windows, or tabs."
As mentioned, from February 8 onwards Gmail will have an integrated view. You can try the new view of Gmail from this date. Though, even after the set date, you will be able to revert back to the existing view of Gmail, if you didn’t like the new one. From April 2022, users who have not opted-in for the new Gmail view will begin getting the new experience by default and will still be able to revert back to the older version, but by the end of Quarter 2 of this year, there will be no come backs!
No matter if you liked the new look or not. Users will see the new streamlined navigation experience on Chat online around the same time. This also means that users will no longer be able to set Google Chat to appear on the right side of Gmail.
