The hierarchy of Marvel’s cosmic gods have been changed forever after the power wielded by Galactus proves to be stronger than the second strongest entity in the universe, and while that may seem borderline blasphemous on the surface, it actually fixes a major problem for future storylines.
Galactus began his life as a man named Galan who existed in the universe before the Marvel universe was born. During a multiversal renewal cycle, Galan’s universe was on the verge of obliteration, and instead of sitting back and allowing himself to be destroyed along with the rest of existence, Galan flew his spacecraft to the center of the catastrophic event. When he did so, Galan wasn’t killed but became a part of the new universe that was simultaneously created with his original one’s destruction. Galan was imbued with the cosmic energy that came with the birth of a new universe known as the Power Cosmic. From that moment on, Galan became the world devourer known as Galactus, a cosmic entity who was free to use his Power Cosmic however he wished—a power that recently had its limits stretched exponentially.

In Iron Man #18 by Christopher Cantwell and Lan Medina, Tony Stark is coming to terms with his god-like power after he and his foe Korvac were bathed in Galactus’ Power Cosmic earlier in the series.
