The vast world of Horizon Forbidden West and the exploration can make one lose track of time. But as great of an experience as the game can be, sometimes it brings fans crashing back to Earth. Or in the case of this player's experience, instead of crashing, they're falling into an infinite abyss.
A player posted a Horizon Forbidden West gameplay video onto Reddit of them climbing up the mountain of the Base and, as they are about to enter, they suddenly fall through the floor and infinitely plunge through the map. The glitch seems to be an issue with how slowly the game can load in the environment. It seems that if the process of loading the floor and surrounding environment lags, the player can open the door of the Base and fall through the floor before the room finishes loading.

The glitch seems to happen often as players also share their experiences with the same glitch. This same glitch can also happen at the bottom of the stairs from GAIA's room. Some players in the post's comment section mention using the inconvenience to their advantage to gain the Long Glide trophy in Horizon Forbidden West. Since there is nothing to hinder the glide, it's a clever cheese for a trophy. It seems to be a glitch that can catch a player unaware if they're not paying attention. Gamers expect the environment in games to be there, and to suddenly be in an infinite void can break the immersion and become a bit annoying.
