The Friday Night Lights TV series features a rich cast of characters, but some of them didn't get much of a send-off. Whether because of changes in creative direction or circumstances outside of the series' control, there are several characters who more or less just disappear, with little to no explanation as to what happened to them. These disappearances are a rare example of the business of TV disrupting the verisimilitude that Friday Night Lights was so known for.
Based on the H. G. Bissinger book of the same name, Friday Night Lights ran from 2006 and 2011. The only characters who were series regulars throughout its entire run were the Taylor family: coach Eric, played by Kyle Chandler, his wife Tami (Connie Britton), and his daughter Julie (Aimee Teegarden.) About a dozen central cast members also came and went as they passed through the sphere of Dillon high school football, plus a host of supporting characters that brought the football-obsessed town of Dillon, Texas, to life.

While many characters exited the series throughout its run, the ones listed here were those whose departures felt the most abrupt. Friday Night Lights shifted directions many times, including moving from a regular broadcast schedule with NBC to shorter seasons that premiered on DirectTV's Audience Network and shifting settings to an impoverished East Dillon in season 4. As a result, the writers may have felt that there were some characters that were too minor to warrant a send-off on the show.
