Forza Motorsport seems to meet the greatest expectations fans have when it comes to Xbox Series consoles’ performance.
As reported by Tech4Gamers, Turn 10 has shared the different rendering scenarios possible to play tne game on the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X. Both consoles have four modes, named Performance, Quality, Performance Ray Traced, Cinematics, Homespace, and Car Theater. These modes offer different scenarios to fit each player’s home set up, and personal preferences. For the purposes of this article, we’re focusing on the Performance and Quality modes
On Xbox Series X, Forza Motorsport on Performance Mode will have the game running at 2160p, AKA at 4K, and with a framerate of 60 FPS. To get to this state, ray tracing is turned off. This will likely be the best experience that is possible for Forza Motorsport, on console.
For quality mode, ray tracing is back on, at the game still outputs at 2160p, but the framerate dips to 30 FPS. Ray tracing is also used in a limited manner, on ambient occlusion, and to ray trace the cars and the tracks. 60 FPS purists will probably prefer the 60 FPS on performance over the lighting effects on quality, but they do have their benefits.
Over at the Xbox Series S, the game can only run at 60 FPS in that console’s Performance mode. This version of the game dips the resolution down to 1080p, and it does not use any ray tracing. So there are even more compromises to get to that 60 FPS performance, but if you are a player who cares about such things, this is the mode for you.
Quality mode on the Xbox Series S brings it up to the highest resolution possible, which is still not quite 4K at 1440p. For this mode, the 30 FPS framerate is also compromised, and it has no use of ray
