After the controversial launch of its Zero Build mode, Fortnite restored its building mechanic, adding the original battle royale mode to casual queues. Developer Epic Games recently introduced Fortnite’s No Build game mode in the Chapter 3 Season 2 update, a temporary battle royale option that removed the game’s building mechanic in unranked matches. In the mode, players were forced to only use the cover provided by the map, drastically altering winning strategies. Fortnite’s No Build mode prioritized combat skills, though the mode was blasted for removing the game’s most unique quality. While an Overshield was added to compensate for the lack of quick cover, the removal of building capabilities has been a hot topic among the battle royale’s dedicated community.
Just four days ago, Epic Games unleashed Fortnite Zero Build, a permanent No-Build battle royale mode added to the Discover Page. The mode is available in Solo, Duos, Trios, and Squads playlists, challenging up to four teammates to survive the battle royale without access to Fortnite’s previous building mechanics. Since Fortnite added the no-build feature, a number of new strategies quickly replaced those employed in the original game mode, such as Ascenders and Blimps being used to evade an onslaught of bullets. To conquer the Zero Build mode, players are encouraged to utilize all of Fortnite’s other systems, such as obtaining high ground, employing the new sprint meter to retreat, and staying away from large open areas.
