A recent Fortnite leak suggests Epic Games is currently working on a full first-person camera mode, which is allegedly still early in development. The game already has an example of switching to a first-person perspective while aiming down sights, but it is exclusively available on just one weapon.
Fortnite’s pioneering first-person ADS mechanic was added at the end of 2021. Epic introduced a new weapon, the MK-Seven assault rifle, which was equipped with a red-dot holographic sight. While aiming down this attachment, the perspective switched to the first-person camera allowing for landing more precise shots with a clear vision of the enemy. This is the only instance of first-person inFortnite currently, with the game having maintained its third-person perspective since launch.

HYPEX, one of the most respectable Fortnite leakers, has taken to Twitter to claim that Epic is working on a proper first-person mode. Unfortunately, the leaker did not elaborate on the matter further, claiming that there’s no additional information at the moment. The mode is probably still early in development, which means there’s no clues on when it might be added to the game. To accompany this promising Fortnite leak, HYPEX shared a screenshot of the mode in action, which is exactly what one would imagine the first-person perspective to be. The leaker suspects that switching to FPS mechanics would work especially well in Zero Build modes, in which building is forbidden by default.
