The Flash's most bitter enemy, the Reverse Flash, finally found a way to indulge in his darkest fantasy. But the time it took Eobard Thawne to realize how he could kill his archenemy shows that the Reverse Flash may not be as great a speedster as he thinks he is.
Hailing from the 25th century, Thawne was once the biggest fan of Barry Allen and wanted nothing more than to be like his idol. He studied for years to master the secrets of the Speed Force and eventually cracked the code and developed powers of his own. The Reverse Flash went back in time to meet his hero, only to discover that he was destined to be the Flash's greatest enemy. The realization drove Thawne mad and made him determined to use his speed to destroy the man he once admired.

However, despite his rage, the Reverse Flash can't kill Barry Allen without undoing his own personal timeline. But the villain found an interesting workaround in Flash #12 by Geoff Johns and Scott Kolins. After Eobard is revealed to be behind a series of murders in Central City, the Flash races to stop him, along with Kid Flash and a Barry Allen variant that goes by the name Hot Pursuit. As the three heroes try to contain Reverse Flash, the villain realizes that Hot Pursuit is a Barry Allen from another world. He practically salivates at the opportunity in front of him. For the first time in his life, Thawne is presented with a way he can kill his most hated enemy in a way that won't change his own personal history. Jumping at the chance, Reverse Flash uses his abilities to brutally kill Hot Pursuit by rapidly aging him until the variant crumbles into dust.
