Warning! Spoilers ahead for Justice League Incarnate #5
In the final issue of Justice League Incarnate #5, it's revealed that Barry Allen's Flash and the Lord of Apokolips Darkseid are the first major casualties ahead of DC's next big crossover. Known as the Dark Crisis, Justice League Incarnate has served as a prelude teasing the coming of the Great Darkness, the entity outside of the multiverse that's been behind all the crises that have come before. However, it looks as though both the Flash and Darkseid have already been claimed by its power before Dark Crisis has begun.
In previous issues of Justice League Incarnate, the multiversal Justice League was attempting to save Barry Allen's Flash who had been taken as a prisoner of the Great Darkness. However, that's been easier said than done. Not only have they had to contend with the sinister being known as the Empty Hand, but they've also had to work with Darkseid himself. Seeking to return the entire multiverse into the nothingness it once was, the Great Darkness cares little for who's good or not. As such, Darkseid is seen fighting the Empty Hand to defend the multiverse's existence in Justice League Incarnate #5 by Joshua Williamson, Dennis Culver, Andrei Bressan, and Jesús Merino.
