Fistful of Vengeance movie trailer teases a continuation of Netflix’s Wu Assassins show starring Lewis Tan and Iko Uwais. Season 1 of Wu Assassins brought supernatural martial arts action to streaming, with an international cast including Byron Mann, Li Jun Li, Celia Au, Lawrence Kao, Tommy Flanagan, Kathryn Winnick, JuJu Chan and Mark Dascascos.
Set in San Francisco’s Chinatown in the modern day, the 2019 Netflix show concerns a young chef named Kai Jin (Uwais) encountering a mystical spirit and becoming blessed with the martial arts powers of the titular Wu Assassins, using his new skills to battle five criminals who have themselves taken on supernatural abilities. Currently carrying an 83% critics score and 81% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, Wu Assassins has been praised for its fight choreography and imaginative mixing of fantasy and martial arts, but some have complained about its story. With season 1 of the show having wrapped up after ten episodes, that perhaps disappointing story will now be continued via a movie officially titled Fistful of Vengeance, featuring returning series stars Uwais, Tan, Kao and Chan alongside new cast members Jason Tobin, Pearl Thusi, Francesca Corney, Tony Kranz and Rhatha Phongaam. The movie was directed byWu Assassins episode helmer and action veteran Roel Reiné, who is known for films like The Scorpion King 3, The Man With the Iron Fists 2 and Hard Target 2.
