Announced alongside a number of other titles that are related to Final Fantasy 7: Remake, Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis is one of the more curious projects under Square Enix's banner. Unlike the HD console and PC remake, this game is an episodic retelling of the original JRPG on mobile devices that aims to give fans a more authentic experience. It overhauls the original game's classic visuals with a modernized version but will have more action-based combat similar to Final Fantasy 7: Remake. Not only that, Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis will be covering every game in the timeline, including spin-offs like Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children, and even Dirge of Cerberus.
Much like other mobile games, FF7: Ever Crisis will feature a gacha system, which contains loot boxes containing random weapons. Some of these weapons will be special and come in certain costume sets that weren't in the original game. That being said, the episodes themselves will be free to download upon each release, and they will contain not only retellings but several original stories that take place within the game's universe. This includes going into the backstories of certain characters in games such as FF7: The First Soldier. A recent report confirms that fans can start playing this game this Fall.
