FFXIV: Ultima's Bane (Unreal) Walkthrough & Rewards

Ultima's Bane (Unreal) is a Level 90 Trial introduced in Final Fantasy XIV's Patch 6.1 that functions similarly to the Extreme mode of The Minstrel's Ballad: Ultima's Bane. This Trial has an eight-member party face a familiar foe of A Realm Reborn, the Ultima Weapon. However, the difficulty has been significantly increased to give players an ultimately brutal yet fulfilling experience of taking down Gaius's mighty Anti-Eikon Warmachina in FFXIV.

As an Unreal Trial, the latest mode of Ultima's Bane in Final Fantasy XIV is correlated with Faux Hollows, a minigame similar to Wondrous Tails that features a fresh twist for completing older content. Likewise, FFXIV Warriors of Light will first need to unlock Faux Hollows if they wish to participate in Ultima's Bane (Unreal) and earn its rewards. This endeavor requires adventurers to complete "Fantastic Mr. Faux," a Level 80 quest accessed by speaking with Painfully Ishgardian Man in Idyllshire at X:7.0, Y:5.9. Yet, this side quest becomes available once fans have completed Heavensward's "Keeping Up with the Aliapohs" and the MSQ for the Shadowbringers expansion.

If the prerequisites mentioned above have already been met before Patch 6.1, the Ultima's Bane (Unreal) Trial will be unlocked automatically. Thus, players who've already met these conditions can open their Duty Finder in Final Fantasy XIV and immediately queue up for the Trial. Once complete, this Trial will reward adventurers with Allagan Tomestones of Aphorism, Allagan Tomestones of Astronomy, and Faux Leaves, which can be used to purchase the new items added in 6.1, such as the Troll Mount.
