Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the second part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, has been officially revealed, and Square Enix shows that it has no qualms in continuing to change the game's story. This has resulted in characters who died in the first part of the original game still being alive going into Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. If FF7 Remake followed the original story, then both Biggs and Wedge would be dead at the start ofFF7 Rebirth. Instead, Biggs is very much alive, while Wedge's status remains uncertain.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth continues the story of the remake after Cloud and his party decides to fight against fate. Although it's called a remake, FF7 Remake is more of a reimagining of the classic story of FF7, and it's made a lot of changes to that story with only the first part released so far. Continuing the trend of changing, FF7 Rebirth won't follow the order of FF7. Because of this, the remake is a fresh story even for those familiar with the original FF7, yet Square Enix manages to keep a nostalgic feeling in the remake despite the changes it's making.

Among the differences between FF7 and its remake are the characters who have lived and died. Going into FF7 Rebirth, at least Biggs is shown to still be alive. In the original FF7, both Biggs and Wedge die when the plate falls on the Sector 7 slums because they fight to buy more time for residents to evacuate before the pillar is destroyed. While injured, Biggs and Wedge both survive the plate collapsing, even though Biggs' survival wasn't shown clearly until after Cloud's party defeated the Whispers. After they leave Midgar, Biggs
