The Netflix original horror trilogy Fear Street made its ghastly appearance on the streamer during the summer of 2021 and delivered three bloodcurdling films that explored an evil force plaguing an innocent town. The fear, however, does not seem to be over as Netflix looks to be developing more films to bring the iconic book series further to life.
Netflix's Fear Street trilogy draws its frightful inspiration from the best-selling teenager horror fiction series written by notable author R.L. Stine. The author's first published Fear Street book, The New Girl, arrived in 1989 and has since become one of the best-selling young adult series of all time. The films are set in three different years and follow three separate casts of protagonists caught in a web of evil tormenting in the same geographical setting of Shadyside.
Even In Movie Form, Fear Street Should Have Been Goosebumps For Adults
The films performed well, but it was unclear whether Netflix would revisit Shadyside. Stine, however, seems to have insight into the streamer's plans. While speaking with Yahoo! Entertainment, the author was asked about future Goosebumps films and revealed what could be on the horizon for the horror fiction series. «There's still talk about more Goosebumps movies, and I also hear rumors about more Fear Street movies for Netflix, because the first ones did so well last summer,» he said.
The films earned solid ratings on Rotten Tomatoes from critics, with Fear Street Part Three: 1666 earning the highest overall rating with a 90% critics score.
