This weekend, Netflix will add a documentary about a disastrous music festival, a movie based on a beloved franchise, and the live-action adaptation of a popular comic book. With the world still adapting to a new normal during the coronavirus pandemic and cinemas all over the world open again and working as usual, streaming services haven’t lost force and they continue to be a main source of entertainment for many. Netflix continues to shake off recent controversy around a massive loss of subscribers and the content of some of its comedy specials, but its release plans haven’t changed, and it keeps adding new licensed and original content every week.
Last weekend, Netflix welcomed the comedy-drama August: Osage County, the documentary Shania Twain: Not Just A Girl, and the horror movie The Wretched, along with the documentary series The Most Hated Man On The Internet, the survival drama limited series Keep Breathing, the romance movie Purple Hearts, and the rom-com TV series Uncoupled. As it does on the first days of every month, this weekend Netflix will bring a bunch of licensed content, most notably the drama movie 8 Mile, the rom-coms Bridget Jones’ Diary and Bridget Jones’ Baby, the supernatural horror movie Constantine, Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut, the comedies Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Miss Congeniality, Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, the sports comedy Space Jam (1996), and Sam Mendes’ Skyfall.
