FBI investigating alleged GTA 6 hacker
pcgamesinsider.bizThe hacker apparently responsible for breaching Rockstar's network and leaking gameplay videos of the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 is under investigation by the FBI.
That's according to a post on Uber's website, in which it said that the same person likely was behind a hack against them earlier this month. The ride-hailing service says that it believes that this party is either part of or affiliated with a hacking group called Lapsus$. This organisation has also targeted other companies, including Microsoft, Nvidia and Samsung.
"We are in close coordination with the FBI and US Department of Justice on this matter and will continue to support their efforts," Uber wrote.
"We’re working with several leading digital forensics firms as part of the investigation. We will also take this opportunity to continue to strengthen our policies, practices, and technology to further protect Uber against future attacks."
On Monday, a hacker made off with over 90 gameplay videos of the in-development Grand Theft Auto 6.
"We are extremely disappointed to have any details of our next game shared with you all in this way," Rockstar said.
"Our work on the next Grand Theft Auto game will continue as planned and we remain as committed as ever to delivering an experience to you, our players, that truly exceeds your expectations. We will update everyone again soon and, of course, will properly introduce you to this next game when it is ready. We want to thank everyone for their ongoing support through this situation."
