Tyrese's Roman Pearce seems to be slowly realizing how absurd the Fast and Furious saga is – which makes a fan theory that he'll find out he's in a movie during Fast and Furious 10 not so farfetched. Introduced in 2 Fast 2 Furious as Brian's old-time friend who was currently in jail, Roman was supposed to serve as a replacement for Vin Diesel's Dominic Toretto. While 2 Fast 2 Furious did not succeed in taking the Fast and Furious franchise in a new direction, Roman would return to the saga in Fast Five and become not only comic relief but also the only character who seems to notice how absurd their lives are.
After Fast & Furious (2009) reunited Paul Walker's Brian and Vin Diesel's Dom for the first time since The Fast and The Furious (2001), Fast Five tried to connect all the different corners of the franchise with a high scale heist mission in which characters from all the previous Fast and Furious movies such as Gisele, Roman, and Tej would take part. Getting all those characters together in one big Fast and Furious family was not the only major impact that Fast Five had on the saga, as the movie was the turning point in the franchise going from street race and small scale heists to a blockbuster-level type of action film. In hindsight, carrying a vault through the streets of Rio de Janeiro was only the beginning of a series of high risky missions performed by Dominic Toretto's almost mythic Fast and Furious crew.
