Fall Guys on PS4 Now Requires New Download

The long-ago warned about day for Fall Guys fans is finally here and developer Mediatonic wants to make sure everyone who enjoys playing the game knows what that means. The company announced a few weeks ago that the launcher for Fall Guys is being replaced by a new one and now that new launcher is officially live.

Since launching in August of 2020, Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout has captured a corner of the PS4 video game market and has managed to even engender loyalty from celebrity gamers like Brie Larson who swear by the party game. Over the life of the game, there have been crossovers and a few new modes added here and there, but Mediatonic is now launching what it calls a new version of Fall Guys.

Fall Guys Monopoly Board Game Crossover Revealed

Mediatonic announced the change back at the end of March and made it clear that when the new launcher was live, people would need to make sure they got themselves the updated version of Fall Guys relatively quickly. While the company wants people to download the new launcher right away, there is a bit of time as the «old» launcher won't be officially retired until May 9.

In order to get the new version of the game, players will need to delete it entirely from their PS4 or PS5 and then download it again from the PlayStation store. Mediatonic is giving those who go through the process a bit more incentive to do it, as anyone who grabs the new version will get a new Fall Guys Retro Shark costume they can use in the character creator.

One reason that the company has given people a month to make the changeover is that eventually, it will be of the permanent and required variety. Once May 9 rolls around, anyone who doesn't bother doing the changeover won't be able to play the game until
