This past week Fall Guys re-launched as a free-to-play game and in doing so reworked the party game's monetization and progression systems. Fall Guys still has its seasonal battle pass, but it has added daily, weekly, and long-term Challenges to encourage players to log in day-to-day. However, Fall Guys players are growing frustrated with the new progression systems, even going so far as to say that in some cases it's more rewarding to lose matches than to try and win.
The problem appears to be rooted in the fact that Fall Guys battle pass progression is now built around its daily and weekly challenges, while standard progression has been nerfed into the ground. That means completing a daily or weekly Challenge can progress players one or multiple levels through the battle pass. But if Fall Guys players don't complete a Challenge, or have already completed their Challenges, then they receive a trickle of progression.
Fall Guys Giving Away Free Content If Enough Fans Pre-Register for Free-to-Play Version
One user on Reddit called attention to just how little battle pass progression Fall Guys players earn under the new free-to-play system. User hold_my_cocoa linked how much they earned in a match if they lost in the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth rounds, as well as when they won a crown. Losing in the very first round earned them 24 points, while winning the fifth and final round won them 107 points. In other words, repeatedly losing the first round earns points faster than winning.
