The latest update for My Hero Academia: The Strongest Hero is offering new content for both fans looking for a new play style as well as those looking to unlock a popular return from its rotating roster of limited-time characters. Published by Crunchyroll’s Games division, the hit mobile game has recently come around to its one-year anniversary.
A major update to The Strongest Hero is the unveiling of a new game mode for online play. Available with the new update, the Tag Team Battles mode is designed for 2v2 online combat, designed for two players to join together and face off against other teams in ranked play on the game’s leaderboards. In its statement on the update, Crunchyroll describes that in this new mode, “the co-op gaming experience is more intimate and the stakes are higher as the player duos climb the ranks together.” Ranked modes are always going to have a more intense feel, and honing that in with a companion is sure to make fans eager for some engaging matchups that make the most of character playstyles and combat dynamics.

Ahead of the update, Crunchyroll has offered some additional details on the new game mode. Players will join the mode together, and the 2v2 matches will comprise 4 characters from each player’s roster, composed of the show's large cast of heroes. Winning in the new mode will grant players exclusive in-game rewards that coincide with ranked placement. Furthermore, it’s been confirmed that the rankings for the new mode will not be influenced or carry over from other modes; the new mode will give teams a chance to start anew and experience the chaos of fresh leaderboards with all of their acquired skills and characters.
