Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak just got its second Free Title Update, bringing new monsters, new quests, and new equipment, including the long-awaited weapon transmog system. There’s also a new Anomaly Research level cap, more prizes in the Market’s lottery, and new Guild Card awards and titles.
The biggest update to any Monster Hunter game is naturally more monsters, which update 12.0.0 most certainly has. You’ll find new monsters appearing in Gathering Hub quests, such as Violet Mizutsune and Flaming Espinas. There are also new afflicted monsters and the new Risen Chameleos elder dragon.

New weekly event quests will provide new unique rewards, some of which you can view in the trailer below. And best of all, the new layered weapon system will let you show off your new bling no matter your preferred weapon. One of the new cosmetics is the Lost Code layered weapon series, which gives your weapons a tech-y upgrade. There are also loads of other cosmetics to be had as paid microtransactions, although that remains a controversial subject for what's already a premium title.
For Steam, new achievements have been added for the content introduced in update 11.0.1.0, while achievements for the new medals added in update 12.0.0 will be added in Free Title Update 3, which is scheduled for November. That'll also add more variants and powered-up monsters too, with more content planned for 2023. Steam also gets a new "horror" display filter just in time for the spooky season.
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Free Title Update 2 is available now on Switch with a 0.6 GB download and on Steam with a 1.1 GB download.
