Following job listings that seemed to focus on blockchain technology, Everywhere's developers have clarified that the listings were for "research positions", although they also said they aren't "dismissing" new technology.
Following Everywhere's debut at Gamescom Opening Night Live, several job listings were spotted on Build A Rocket Boy's website that seemed to imply that Everywhere will incorporate blockchain technology. The positions included senior backend programmer, smart contract developer, and test engineer, all of which specifically mention being focused on blockchain.

Considering how little we know about Everywhere so far, and the promise from Build A Rocket Boy that the game "seamlessly blends gameplay, adventure, creativity, and discovery in an all-new multiworld gaming experience that redefines how players connect with one another and the digital world around them", many assumed that the game will be focused on NFTs and blockchain technology.
In response to these claims, Build A Rocket Boy took to the game's subreddit to explain that the positions were actually for "research" and that it isn't building Everywhere on the blockchain. The statement reads, "We’re seeing some conversation on NFTs/Cryptos that are prompted by some of our open positions on our website. These are research positions, as we do not like dismissing new technologies only because others haven’t found a solution for them yet. We are building Everywhere on Unreal Engine 5, not the blockchain. We are creating a new world for players, where we come together to play, watch, create, share, and so much more".
