Leatherface is officially back after a five-year-long hiatus in the upcoming Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2022,and here's everything we know about the reboot. From the looks of the trailer, the reboot doesn’t stray from the bloody, gore-filled original. The film will be the first movie in the series since Leatherface (2017) and the ninth film in the almost five-decade-long franchise.
The upcoming slasher film is directed by David Blue Garcia (Bloodfest), with a script by Chris Thomas Devlin (Cobweb). Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2022 is based on the original story by Fede Álvarez (Don't Breathe) and Rodo Sayagues (Don't Breathe, Don't Breathe 2). The movie will also serve as a direct sequel to the 1974 film.

The original The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was released in 1974, directed and co-written by Tobe Hooper (Poltergeist), with a script by Kim Henkel. Luckily for those who aren't comfortable going to theaters yet, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2022 will be available through a streaming service instead. The film will be released solely on Netflix. Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2022 will be released right around time for Valentine’s Day, on February 18th, 2022.
