After relatively little news over the past couple of years, Olivia Wilde’s highly-anticipated film Don’t Worry Darling is finally gaining some traction. Don’t Worry Darling has been steadily filming since its announcement in August 2019, after winning an intense bidding war against 18 other studios. Now, after a protracted gestation period, the movie looks finally set to see the light of day.
Don't Worry Darling will be Wilde’s second film as director following her debut with the coming-of-age comedy Booksmart (2019). The film did exceptionally well, garnering $25 million in the box office and receiving a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, while Wilde undoubtedly found success with Booksmart's comedic style, Don't Worry Darling promises to be a very different project tonally, drawing on a number of challenging themes.

Don’t Worry Darling finally wrapped up production in February 2021 after coming to a standstill twice due to different crew members testing positive for Covid-19. Although an official trailer has not been released yet, a short teaser on Olivia Wilde’s Instagram showcases a release date for the fall. Wilde’s teaser was posted on September 13th, 2021, and an official release date for Don’t Worry Darling is in her bio, set to arrive in theatres on September 23rd, 2022.
