Tribes of Midgard, the Norse-themed survival RPG published by Gearbox's game publishing branch and developed by Norsfell, has been out on PC and PlayStation 5 for a fair few months now, having attained generally mixed-to-positive review ratings across both platforms. The game may soon open up its doors for a significantly bigger player base, however.
Namely, Tribes of Midgard has just been rated by ESRB for Xbox and Nintendo Switch platforms, and though this doesn't necessarily mean that there's an imminent release pending, odds are good that this isn't a far-future plan, either. Parents interested in playing the game with their kids shouldn't be worried, either, as its ESRB description is expectedly tame.
Tribes of Midgard Review
Though players have been wondering if Tribes of Midgard was coming to Nintendo Switch since the game's initial release, back in July 2021, there hasn't been much information available on the topic up until now. In fact, there aren't any official announcements being made at the time of writing this article, either, but now that ESRB has rated Tribes of Midgard as a «Teen» game for both Switch and Xbox One and Series consoles, it's seemingly all but confirmed that it's finally happening.
Players found many things to love in Tribes of Midgard, although it's plainly obvious that the game is far from perfect. The ESRB listing makes mention of its top-down perspective gameplay and mild, fantasy-level violence, but it's also worth keeping in mind that the game is rather beautiful and satisfying to play. Its short progression beats and cel-shaded graphics will be a good fit on Nintendo Switch, and there's bound to be an audience of players eager to join in on Xbox platforms, too.
