Encanto director Jared Bush recently took to social media and revealed what would have happened if Mirabel and Bruno did not save Casita in the Pixar movie. Although the 2021 animated musical fantasy film did not fare well in the theaters, largely due to a pandemic-limited release, Encanto became a massive hit when it landed on Disney+. The film went on to win the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film and received three Academy Award nominations, winning for Best Animated Feature as well.
Encanto finds Abuela (María Cecilia Botero) and her husband fleeing a group of unknown assailants when her husband is killed. Through the power of an enchanted candle, the Madrigal family matriarch transforms a hidden part of a forest in the mountains of Colombia and creates a sentient anthropomorphic house known as Casita. However, after decades of growth in the forest, and building a community for lost travelers, the house begins to form cracks through its foundation and walls. Mirabel Madrigal (Stephanie Beatriz), Abuela's exuberant granddaughter, takes it upon herself to solve the mystery, leading her to her long-lost and shamed uncle, Bruno (John Leguizamo). Through love and reconciliation, the two mend the wounds of the family and rebuild Casita from total destruction.
