Elden Ring: Where To Get The Iron Whetblade (And What It Does)
Elden Ring gives players a lot more freedom when it comes to developing a build. Oftentimes players find that their build changes dramatically as they find new weapons, spells, and other items that change the priority of stats when leveling up. Stats are tied to everything in Elden Ring, but finding an Ash of War with the scaling you want can be hard.

The Iron Whetblade is an upgrade to the regular Whetstone Knife that gives players three new options when applying an Ash of War to their weapons. There are other similar new tools in Elden Ring but this one is useful in the early game and can be found pretty quickly into the Stormveil Castle legacy dungeon.
When a player applies an Ash of War to their armament at a Site of Lost Grace, a screen pops up asking for the type of scaling you would like to imbue. This is separate from the Weapon Skill itself, and Ashes of War that might seem exclusive to one type of scaling, like Sacred Blade with Faith, can be mixed and matched with other scaling properties.
The Iron Whetblade unlocks the Heavy, Keen, or Quality scaling options, specifically. The Heavy option increases the weapon's Strength scaling, Keen improves its Dexterity scaling, and Quality increases both Strength and Dexterity scaling at the cost of base damage. These options can all be applied no matter which Ash of War you infuse, and are more useful for melee builds than Sorcery or Incantation-oriented ones.
The Iron Whetblade is found in Stormveil Castle near the Rampart Tower Site of Lost Grace. Near this Grace there should be a room blocked off by an Imp Statue, which requires a Stonesword Key to open. Return with one of these to unlock the fog gate, behind which is an enemy waiting
