This area is the sunken roofs, and a quick conversation with Diallos reveals that Lanya is dead. The quest involving Lanya continues after discovering her death. Diallos vows to catch the person who brought about her demise, which brings about another objective for players. Of course, the quest line isn't required; almost nothing in Elden Ring is.
